A joint full-day meeting with the Lowestoft Field Club at RSPB Lakenheath Fen
With Arthur Copping (phone 01379 642109). This reserve partly comprises a successful transformation of former arable to wetland. Specialities include Golden Oriole and Drooping Brome. Meet in the Reserve car park off the B1112 road, 200 yards north of Lakenheath Station at map ref. TL 727866.
There may be trains from Norwich (depart 09.15) to Lakenheath (arrive 10.00), calling at Wymondham, Attleborough and Thetford (returning at 16.15), but these are subject to change: please confirm with the train company during the week prior to the meeting. 3 or 4 members can travel for the cost of 2: tickets for this ‘Group Save Scheme’ are available in advance or on the day from Norwich Station Ticket Office.

Full-day bird walk at Holme Dunes NWT Reserve
Holme Dunes NWT Reserve (TF 714449) just n.e. of Hunstanton, covering beach, dunes, scrub, scrapes, pines and marsh habitats. With Barrie Sullivan. From the A149 between Hunstanton and Holme-next-the-Sea, turn north towards the sea (signed NOA Watchpoint / NWT Reserve). After half a mile and just before a block with the only available toilets turn right onto very rough mile-long track: go slowly! Park (small charge to non-NWT members) on left near ‘The Firs’ (white house with NWT Visitor Centre). Bring a picnic. Light snacks available to buy.
